FAQ
Every tattoo artist is dedicated to giving you exactly what you want in your tattoo.
Questions?
If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo but have questions, here are the answers to some common questions we get. If you don’t find your answer here, please reach out to us.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes, we take walk-ins every Saturday from 12-7pm. Occasionally, artists may have time for walk-ins during the week, but it is best to reach out to them individually to ask or book an appointment.
What is your deposit policy?
Each artist has their own deposit policy that they will instruct you on when booking. Generally, the deposit saves your date, is non-refundable, and is taken off the final cost of the tattoo. This policy allows you to reschedule with given notice but may be forfeited for no-shows.
How do I know my deposit is going to a legit artist/business?
Tattoo scamming is a problem nationwide. The best way to prevent being scammed is to do some research, especially when booking through social media. Call tattoo shops and research where they’re located. Check if the shop website lists them as an artist/tattooist at the shop. Additionally, check that the website links to the tattooist’s social media profile. Potential clients should be wary to put money down if the artist isn’t open to having an in-person consultation. Generally speaking, most artists won’t ask for a deposit over $200. You’ve never met them, so don’t be afraid to ask too many questions.
When can I see the design for my tattoo?
When booking a custom piece this decision is up to the artist. It is not uncommon for them to wait to show you the piece on the day of the appointment. Any changes can most often be altered right then and there at the clients request.
What should I do to prep for my appointment?
Get a good nights sleep, stay hydrated, dress for the tattoo’s location by wearing baggy clothing or bringing options. Make sure you’ve eaten before your appointment and bringing a snack is never a bad idea.
When sending an email what should I include?
Please include a description of the tattoo you want or any reference photos. Describe the placement on your body or a photo of where you want it. Also include the size of the tattoo in inches, style, color preference, if you have a budget or any other info that may help the artist give you a better experience.
What are your aftercare instructions?
We have a whole page dedicated to aftercare instructions.

Whether you are experienced under the needle or it’s your first tattoo, here is what you can expect getting a tattoo at Ghost Light Tattoo Parlor.
- Finding the right artist
Finding the right artist is key. Look for an artist whose style matches the style of tattoo you want. Look at their work on their social media. Additionally, check that their social media profile is linked to our website. Read more about how to assure your deposit is going to a legit artist/business on our FAQ page. - Getting in touch
Each artist may do things a bit differently, but generally the top ways of communicating for your appointment are email, DM or through a booking form. In your inquiry, it will be important to clearly communicate what you want. Use reference images and explain your vision for the design. Your artist will also want to know about your preferred size, placement, and color scheme. - Deposit and paperwork
Before the appointment, you may need to make a deposit to hold your spot. Additionally, you’ll need to fill out any necessary paperwork, such as a consent form or health questionnaire. - Day of the appointment
On the day of the appointment, make sure your body is hydrated and you’ve had a substantial meal. This will help you physically and mentally go through the process of getting a tattoo. In addition, make sure you’re dressed comfortably. - During your appointment
Your artist will clean and prepare the area, then begin tattooing. Be prepared for some discomfort, but let your artist know if you need a break or feel unwell. Follow any aftercare instructions given by your artist, such as keeping the area clean and avoiding certain activities.
Overall, getting a tattoo can be a rewarding experience if you choose the right artist, communicate clearly, come to the appointment prepared, and take care of the tattoo during the healing process. Good luck with your tattoo!
